DIY Wax Wrap Workshop 1
time and location
about the event
Join us for an informative evening of fun and creativity and discover how to make the perfect beeswax wraps and make the switch from cling film to wraps!
Did you know that more than 1.2 billion metres, equating to 745,000 miles, of cling film is used by households across Britain every year? But why is it so bad? Cling film is made from nurdles - tiny plastic particles that are melted down to make the stretchy, clingy stuff we know, but these nurdles are often spilled in transit and end up in our waterways where they kill fish and small mammals when ingested. Not only that, but cling film itself is non-recyclable, and breaks back down into small plastic particles which end up, you guessed it, back in the water!
It's naturally antibacterial and melts relatively easily, but the magic happens when it's made into a wrap. It moulds and clings around food and containers to keep food fresh and washes easily.
Each participant will learn what makes the magic formula for your beeswax wrap, and will take home either one large wrap, or one medium plus one small wrap made from 100% cotton (fabric patterns will vary). All materials and equipment will be provided!
A cup of coffee or tea is included in the ticket price.
Children over 12 are welcome, but will need to be accompanied by an adult.
NOTE: We have not yet perfected a vegan wax wrap that can be done in a short space of time, we hope to offer vegan wax wrap workshops soon!
